  • Translating global commitments into national realities

The IPU 2026 Parliamentary Hearing at the UN will consider the ways in which parliaments and the United Nations can work better together to deliver a more prosperous, sustainable, just and peaceful world, in the context of the UN80 reform initiative.

The discussions will be informed by the Pact for the Future, the main roadmap toward a renewed multilateral system with the United Nations at its center, as well as this year's General Assembly resolution "Interaction between the United Nations, national parliaments and the Inter-Parliamentary Union."

With gender equality taking centre stage worldwide, both as the IPU’s priority theme for 2025 and as we mark the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Plan of Action, the Eleventh IPU Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will focus on how both young and more senior MPs can unite to accelerate progress on advancing equality between men and women . The Conference is taking place from 11 to 13 September 2025 in Lima, Peru.  National parliaments are invited to send a delegation of up to four young parliamentarians (under the age of 40) to participate in the Conference. Delegations should be composed of representatives of both sexes and parliaments are encouraged to include their youngest members. Exceptionally, given this Conference’s emphasis on intergenerational dialogue, parliaments are invited to include in the delegation one more senior MP in addition to the four young MPs. 3rd Meeting, Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament.

  The Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament, organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), in close collaboration with the United Nations, will take place from 29 to 31 July 2025 at the Palais des Nations. The Conference, first established in 2000 on the eve of the United Nations Millennium Summit, aims to provide a unique forum for high-level engagement and dialogue among parliamentary leaders from around the world. Previous Conferences, held every five years since then, have served as catalysts for shaping and strengthening the parliamentary dimension of global governance, thereby helping to bridge the democracy gap in international affairs. This occasion will mark the culmination of two years of work by a Preparatory Committee of approximately 20 Speakers of Parliament from all regions of the world, and promises to be the largest ever gathering of its kind.
